Tara Chiarot is walking for her grandmother,

Catherine Burford

My grandmother Catherine Burford was a remarkable woman.  Mother to 5 stellar humans, my mother Gloria and my aunts Noelle and Mary and uncles Perry and John.  She was a loving woman with the best hugs I can still feel to this day when I think of them. Catherine was passionate about travel and did so vigorously into her 80s, all over the world and  many times solo. She earned her degree in criminology at age 75, we were all so proud of her!  My grandmother was ahead of her time in recycling - I recall as a young child, drawers full of milk bags cut and washed to be used as snack or sandwich bags, always bringing her brown paper bags back to the grocery store to be reused.  She gave to so many charities involving animals and poverty stricken areas, and was devoted to her faith.  She was generous to a fault and often had strong opinions that were not always shared by her loved ones, however she voiced them whether you wanted to hear them or not... because she loved you and wanted the best for you.  I feel her presence daily in my life, my thoughts and feelings about things, manners,  the way I do things in my house, the way I love my kids.  I miss her but I'm so happy she had a long and happy life with us.
