Your Walk, Your Way

Walk where you call HOME so we can deliver hospice care wherever someone calls HOME, too

Your Walk, Your Way is our virtual Moonlit Memory Walk program and a way for you to participate in our 2024 fundraising event even if there isn't a walk location near you.

More than three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, most of us are now used to connecting virtually. Many HHA Death Doulas and Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doulas are working with clients online more than ever before, and we're seeing a need for both our trainings and our client-facing work to continue online even as we start to return to in-person offerings.

While social restrictions are hopefully behind us, we're excited to offer an opportunity for anyone, anywhere to join our fundraising walk and be part of making compassionate end-of-life care a reality for increasing numbers of people across Canada.

How does it work?

With Your Walk, Your Way, we welcome you to join our evening online event happening on October 17, 2024. When you participate in this way, you'll receive a special invitation for our 2024 Virtual Memorial Event and Loved One Tribute. Join others from across the country who, like you, want to ensure care is available wherever you and your loved ones call home. As a special treat, Our Your Walk, Your Way Chef Amos Clark will provide our virtual participants with a recipe (including cooking instructions) for a delicious “comfort food” that we can enjoy together.

Alternatively, you can make Your Walk, Your Way a more personal experience that can either take place on the day of the Moonlit Memory Walk (October 17) or any other day that you wish. Simply take a reflective stroll on behalf of HHA and dedicate your walk to the memory of a loved one you want to honour.

As a participant of our Your Walk, Your Way program, you can also either request or create your own lantern. A special thank you to Terri Viola-Wilson (our C.A.N.D.Y. Cafe Program Manager) for providing instructions for D.I.Y. lanterns.

We carry a light to guide our walk

We show to all we pass

that there is a memory in our hearts

shining as bright as

the full moon we walk under

and the light that we hold in our hands
