My Mum lived a full life in her almost 93 years that came to a peaceful end on April 30th of this year.

She was a strong woman...travelling across the ocean with a 4 year old, 2 year old, pregnant with her third to join our Dad to start their new life in Canada. They went on to have a total of 8 children whom she raised with much love, guidance and affection.  She was a pillar of strength and a beautiful woman who always took pride in her appearance - her hair was done weekly, she always wore lipstick and had her nails painted. She wasn't perfect...she was my Mum, my confidant, my giver of advice, my friend.  She inspired me, she taught me and she showed me what unconditional love was.

My siblings and I were fortunate to surround my Mum in her final weeks, holding her hands, loving her and on her final night we had the privilege of laying with her, comforting and loving her as she took her final breath.

This is the woman who helped to shape who I am and why I strive to be the best me that I can be. This is why I am walking to remember how my Mum lived and to continue to help make the changes I want to see in my community, for myself and my loved ones.
