Herman only came into our lives for two short years, but they were two beautiful years for which we are infinitely grateful. Herman had been abandoned and was found with rotting teeth and several other health issues; we rescued him as a senior, and knew we had limited time with him.
We had just never realized it would be *this* short. Herman changed our lives. He was our first rescue, and thanks to him, my mother and I have decided to only ever rescue senior dogs again - the ones nobody seems to want (which mystifies us). Herman had big ears, and an even bigger heart.
He brought happiness to any person -- family, friend, and stranger alike -- that he came into contact with. He loved meeting strangers, and within seconds, they were no longer strangers to him or us. We made countless friends across the city thanks to herman. His big black eyes made everybody smile, and any heart melt.
He is sorely missed. Everyday. But we will walk in his memory. And will continue to adopt - not shop - in his memory.
